AB 104 UPDATE: HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT GRADE CHANGES TO PASS/NO PASS
Dear Yosemite Valley Charter Families,
I hope you are well and enjoying the summer break. I am reaching out to inform you of a new California State law AB 104. This law allows students, who were enrolled in high school during the 2020-2021 school year, to choose a grade of Pass/No Pass for any course taken last year. Making this change will not have an impact on their grade point average. There is no limit on the number of grades earned by a student during the 2020-2021 school year that can be changed to a Pass/No Pass.
The law also requires the California State University system to accept a grade of Pass during the 2020-2021 school year for purposes of admitting future students. However, private colleges and other universities are not required to accept a grade of Pass in place of a letter grade.
To request a grade change to a Pass/No Pass grade, a parent/guardian or adult student must submit this grade change request application before midnight of August 15, 2021. Please email your application to Denise Voth at firstname.lastname@example.org.
